After a long absence, I always do this update and promise to never take another absence.
It’s a bad habit.
Update: I’ve been doing a Whole 30, ever heard of it? It’s crazy difficult for a self-professed food junkie like me. There’s no dairy, legumes, soy, grains of any kind (and yes, that’s you corn!), sugar, or processed yucky stuff. In its place, you eat as many clean vegetables, meats, eggs, and good-for-you fats plus some fruit to keep it interesting. Pretty much all the things I wasn’t eating before. The awesome thing is that I’m on day 28 today and I’m feeling strong, though I can certainly see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m looking forward to enjoying my morning coffee again. Biggest things I’ve learned: eating eggs and potatoes for breakfast every morning isn’t the end of the world. I won’t die if I drink black coffee. I’m totally addicted to eating junk food when I’m stressed out. I’m feeling stronger and more in control of myself that I ever have before. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.
I went back to school! My first day of school was yesterday and I’m super excited about the classes I’m taking. I’m pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Health Care Support, but will likely be changing that to Medical Assisting soon. I didn’t realize they were different majors, in fact, I didn’t even know what a Medical Assistant was. I thought that every time I went to a doctor’s office, I was talking to a nurse. I wasn’t. I was talking to a Medical Assistant. They are the ones that take your vitals, listen to your health history, prep you and the room for exams, help the doctor with the exam, and give you shots. They can also take your blood too. It’s a multi-faceted career with endless variations based on the location or office that you’re working for. I’m a little nervous that this isn’t the field I had originally imagined (hello, history major?) but I love that it gives me a job with specific skills and training and opportunities to move forward with it.
I got my hair cut. Meh. I love the length but the stylist cut my layers all wrong. She cut asymmetrical layers so that the back is short and there aren’t any layers in front. I’m not sure where she got this idea, since I didn’t ask for anything of the kind. I did ask for a fairly traditional long bob with layers. I didn’t specify “around my face” but I was gesturing in the area. I think she tuned me out and went with her own opinion. Bummer. I’m going to wait six weeks and try to have it recut with better layers. I’ll probably have to lose more length which doesn’t thrill me, but whatever.
As for my promise: I promise to remember that I have a blog. Hopefully, I’ll even post on it periodically.
Updated to add: Nope, I forgot about my blog again. It’s a bad habit.
